We are very pleased to invite you to read the first articles in our special issue featuring the development and clinical application of genomic technologies. In this historical perspective, we review the past two decades of foundational technological breakthroughs, computational underpinnings and genomic discoveries that have brought us to the present. Abstract the applications of genomic sciences in healthcare are vast and varied, as are the techniques underlying them Right from the rediscovery of mendel's laws in the early 20th century up until now, in the postgenomic era, there have been regular advancements in. Explore the latest advancements in genomics, focusing on innovative techniques and their transformative applications in research. Novel technologies, particularly next generation sequencing, have dramatically accelerated the pace of biological research, while at the same time increasing expectations In this paper, a brief summary of genetic history with short explanations of most popular genetic techniques is given. This review examines important advancements in sequencing techniques and how they have revolutionized genomics research. Since the sequencing of the first human genome in 2001, genomic technologies have made a huge impact across many fields such as medicine, agriculture, bioenergy production, synthetic biology, environmental science, computational science, information technology, and health and wellness management. In the past, genetic testing was rarely able to provide rapid results, but the increasing speed and availability of genomic testing is changing this, meaning that genomic information is increasingly influencing decisions around patient care in the acute inpatient setting.
